Hi Jack,

Welcome to OPF. We love Santa Monica, but never surfed. Am impressed with the sport and the thrill of riding the waves without getting blasted! Looking forward to seeing great pictures from you both and great discussions. We are interested in seeing your best get better. You input will for sure help others here too.

BTW, The surfwars between South Africa and Brazil are fascinating! They compete but on different continents here I'd like to see the still pictures!

I surfed!

I did a lot of bodysurfing off of Station 26 from about 1966-1974. Before that I dug in the sand there with my shovel and pail, picnic-ed, cut school, slathered myself with Coppertone, dyed my hair almost orange with peroxide in the sun there (when I was 15), has a few first kisses and a lot of Hot Dogs on A Stick, listened to a lot of music and was a beach bum as often as I could be.

I also have photos from 1925 of my grandfather and grandmother at about the same spot with my Grandmother standing on top of my grandfather's shoulders.

Love Santa Monica....it's lots of happy memories for me.
