I am being offered a contax g2 in LN condition with the 45/2, 90/? for a very good price...in black.

I have no idea about this camera, and would like any advice or suggestions you might offer.

Thank you.

p.s i know i don't need it, but seems a lovely piece of machine of yesteryear when i couldn't afford these
things.

Fahim,

This is a superb camera with the finest lenses. You will be most happy. Get a 21 mm too and you have a full frame Leica with autofocus and the best lenses! I doubt that you can't match any Leica film pictures with this beauty! The Zeiss lenses give a particularly rich color. This camera is also very discrete, quiet and compact.

Just buy it Fahim. A lovely little gem. If you look here you'll find a set that Ian Sitren made with his Contax G1.

If you really don't need after all you can always post it to the UK:)

Mike, strong praise indeed. Lovely images on Ian's site. Thanks for the link. Now to discuss with the
chappy about the serious things!

Is there anything special I should be looking out for? This shall be bought ( if ) sight unseen. I want some detailed pics and what else do I need on the functional and cosmetic side?

Yikes, just looked at the price of the biogon 21/2.8 which Asher recommended..at keh = $695.00!!

Best.

One thing to keep in mind is that the lenses (lovely ones) are electronically coupled and do not easily work on other bodies. A Japanese service firm is able to convert them to MF but they shine on the G2.

Hi Fahim

I'm not aware of any particular issues, and if something looks like new and works well I tend not to worry. Perhaps just my innocence...

As Martin said, view it as a closed system and buy some new Biogons and a C-Sonnar for your M7/9 (as well)

There are more, don't worry. The first is just to aliven you to something new. Now you must wait for the right one. Keep enjoying the M7 and 8 and wait.

Events

These older rangefinders are hot commodity in the wedding/event shooters market. Sorry you missed this one, but, I am sure there are others out there.

I would love a film rangefinder. Now that I think about it, I think my husband has one somewhere. I think I will have to go and see what brand/model it is. My first camera was a Yashica Rangefinder with a 50 lens.
