Hi Paul, Jan,

Thank you both very much for visiting. Jan I'll attend to those leaves as recommended, when I can find the time ;-).

Cheers,

Cem,

Thanks for sharing this. For me this is particularly interesting/inspiring because it's the sort of scene that I frequently walk/drive by without truly seeing it even though I'm looking for it.

I don't think I would clone out the bits of foreground color; I think it will lose some balance. If anything, I wish the tree had a little more room for the base of the tree.

Winston,

The removal of items does indeed require experimentation. My guess is that just a pristine carpet would be fitting. But this has to be O.K. with the photographers "ethics". Never do this to please others unless you have to feed your kids!

The other option os to add space below. That's why I advocate covering neighboring areas that you don't think you need!

Hi Asher,

Hold it right there please. I did not say that I agree with the assessment that the tree needs space below, which I don't and it is my prerogative this being my own image. I have no problems with cleaning out some litter from a picture but I'll never transplant bits from another picture . If the composition is not right to start with, I'll bin it and reshoot if I can. This is not a unique image which I can't afford to lose after all. Sometimes I get the feeling that we are too much obsessed with improving images in the postprocessing. Time after time I have seen that the compositionally and contentwise strong pictures do not need this attention at all.

Cheers,

Hi Winston,

I am glad to hear that this gives you some ideas to go there and get shooting. Please share the results with us when you do so. Re. the bits, I agree. More space at the base of the tree is not something I think is necessary although it would not hurt if it was so. Thanks for your kind comments.

Cheers,
