Dwayne Oakes: Spring Thaw

I'm glad to be the first to welcome this spring picture. It's actually a photograph that will also fit in our collection of paths. I like the notion of the passageway between the damaged trees which have survived winter and are just about to show the leaves of spring. The path of water is decorated by interesting reflections of sky and canopy and leads to brighter light in the distance. So this is a positive image and once again understated and utterly peaceful.

The hallmark of your photography is that nothing seems to happen fast. It's almost as if there are no wolves, foxes, owls and raptors ready to rip the life out of the gentle deer and mice.

Hello Dwayne,

I admire the beauty and consistency in style of your work. This photo and The Mighty Willow are the ones that have made the strongest impression upon me.

Ruben,

You have nailed it! Yes Dwayne's work is admirable in it's devotion to natural softness and indistinctness of nature. There is no animal thrusting itself out of the background as that only happens seconds before a fight to the death. Look back at the threads he has started and you will find some with deer that are barely visible against the background.

I'm so glad you are following Dwayne's work. Yes it's satisfying to find someone like Dwayne who has their own style that fits in with their chosen subject and passion for imagery.

Ruben, Asher - Quite well said!
All too often I see "catchy" processing that supposedly defines one's "style" or their "trademark".
Dwayne has developed a subtle method of allowing us to see nature through a different set of eyes.
I cannot imagine the amount of effort that is put into each of his images!
