20D back from Canon

I got my 20D back from Canon on the 26th. They adjusted focus, adjusted exposure and did a firmware update although I thought that I had the last firmware update in it. Checked all & cleaned to factory spec. In the grip they adjusted inhibit voltage and repaired power connection.

I have been reading about CF4/3 for quite some time so I set it to that for a try. I put the ST-E2 on and set a slave flash on one of the aquariums for a try. I took 10 shots and every one was in perfect focus. None were keepers simply because I didn't set up for keepers only wanting to check for focus. Before I probable would have had 4 - 6 in focus under the same conditions.
Yesterday I took 41 pictures of my daughter giving a horse a workout. I lost about 10 or so due to my not being used to CF4/3. I pushed the wrong button a couple of times and had my * timing off the rest of the time. Most of the rest were in PERFECT focus and I have NEVER seen pictures come out of this camera so sharp. Although I will always stick with RAW I am going to shoot a few in JPG and automatic to see what they look like.

I hesitate to say to say this because you will think I'm nuts but I swear that the colors are better out of the camera as well.

I don't think that I can find words enough to express how happy with Canon NJ repair that I am.
Canon NJ I love you. You have made life with my camera fun and enjoyable again.
After fighting with focus problem since I bought the camera I could go on and on about how happy that I am, so I'll now move on.

Did I mention how happy I am?

Ron,

Glad you did that. I hear that's the best thing. How old was the 70-200 and did they alter that? Also what did they charge if anything?

Ironically I sold my 20D today along with a EF-S17-85 IS. I got a good price for them and will bank the money until December. If something akin to a 5D replacement surfaces then I go for it, if not then its either a secondhand 1dsMkI or a 5D, probably the latter.

Asher,
The 70 - 200 was almost 2 years old. No they didn't change anything on the lense.

They charged $180. They then took $36.00 off the bill since it was always like that but was out of warranty.

I am very happy with the way it turned out. Money well spent.

John,

In my mind I'm certain something good is going to come from Canon in Feb. - March. When it does I'll have a new camera and keep the 20D now that it works.

Hi Ron,

For just a moment, I thought you were happy with your camera...

You'd better get out to your landscapes now ... no excuses ;-)

Best wishes,

Ray

Its raining hard today with gusts up to 70 MPH.

I do like the camera very much Ray. I've had my mind made up for another camera since last spring. Difference now is that I'm in no hurry.
