(and this was more playing around test, so yes I know the wedding dress is wrinkled as can be, I will have it pressed before an actual shoot)

Thanks so much, Stephen for giving us practical examples to see what the 7D can yield with good hands.

Stephen Eastwood Model Shot with Canon 7D, ? 28-105 lens, ISO 3200​

As it, these pictures are instantly very beautiful. I expect these where developed in Canon software from RAW, but maybe these are just the plain jpgs out of the camera? Which is it? What corrections if any did you employ?

If they were corrected, I'd like to see the as shot jpgs too.

At the large size, these pictures do show some flaws of color noise if one looks closely, but for most purposes these pictures are excellent.

I'm particularly interested in these shots as ISO 3200 as it gives me an idea of the sensitivity of the 7D, needed in a dark auditorium. The x1.6 of the sensor would give me extra reach and put those 18 MP to work on my subject without cropping. I'd love to see a side by side test with the 5DII and a 70-200 2.8L and compare the difference at ISO 1600 upwards.

Is there any possibility that its video mode would be useful for the application you have been discussing?

Of course, 1920 x 1080 px seems to be the greatest resolution available in that mode. But you certainly could exploit it with the availability of a small field of view.

It of course is also possible that it would offer a "silent mode" still photo modality better than what we have in the current product line.

Hi Doug,

Using this or the 5DII as a movie camera in a performance requires absolute silence. Only the G10 can do that AFAIK. If one starts the video when the musicians enter the stage and then one has a long enough battery or else AC power, then one could record the entire performance in silence in HD video! I'm thinking of that! I'll look in the box to see if we were supplied an AC adapter, although I don't recall that. I have one of course for the Canon 1DII. It's one of those things I'd put aside and never consider using. Now I want it, LOL!

I'm impressed, anyway, with the 7D just for the ISO 3200 as I like to use available light for almost everything except tableau construction and formal portraits for professional musicians. The advantage of the 7D might well be better focus than the 5DII. Stephen, is that your experience? I'd love to see a shootout between the two cameras at high ISO!
