I love the low-angle perspective here, which really gives an intimate look into the duck's world. A secondary benefit is the wonderfully soft background which this allows as well.

That said, I would prefer to have one of the ducks isolated (not always easy, I realize!), as I find the one in the background distracting.

That's moving in the right direction, providing a clear-cut subject. This particular one is a bit tight in composition for my personal taste, as I'd like to see a little more of his environment. But as I said, they're often in groups, moving quickly about, and it's challenging to get one in the clear.

Could you provide some details on the logistics of how you're able to get such eye-level shots? Are you on shore, in a boat, how do you get the camera that close to the water?
