The English pub is an integral part of British society. It forms part of the matrix of how friends regularly socialize outside the home on neutral territory, sharing a beer, cider or something harder or partaking of the kitchen specials.

The bartender shares local news and can be the go between among friends and business associates.

Enjoy this window on one of these charming establishments!

A great variety of beers on tap.

Wide spectrum of customers. Two young woman in the front elegantly dressed so it’s not just working class. There was a family with two children and the rest were men with their buddies. In the dining room, just myself and my wife eating fish and chips although o was disappointed by the frugal portions of fish which allowed the fried batter to dominate.

In my hotel, the fried fish was 2x5” thick and 5” wide and at least a foot long with 6” curved up, rising above the plate and scrumptious!

….so it was difficult for any other vendor to compete!
