A simple game...where am I?

National Park

Beautiful image. I think this is in the USA. Probably in a National Park. Maybe part of the Grand Canyon or there abouts. Arizona or Utah. That's as far as I can take it.

USA yes
National Park no
State Park yes
Southwest no
Northwest yes

Sorry, I didn't mean to make this so hard, but I don't do urban landscapes often, so this is what it is

Northwest!

Ah...I think that a fair number of OPF'ers are from Europe or are east of the West Coast of the US. The only places in the Northwest that I have been is Astoria, Oregon, Seattle and a few points north of there - Vancouver and Alaska. I am clueless about the location!

Fahim - what are the rules for no answer? Do we go 24 hours and repost?

If there are no close guesses tomorrow AM (Pacific Time), I'll tell. I don't want to kill the thread (again).

<Chas>

Hint, within a day's drive of Astoria Oregon

what about:

- no answer, within a day :

- the original pic owner let's us know the answer

- has the option of posting another pic or passes for someone else to keep the thread moving

what do you folks think?

best.

OK, that was too hard.

It's Smith Rock State Park just outside Bend Oregon. Quite famous with climbers around the world, but not so much with photographers I see.

Here's another, that should be much easier.

I think I know

I think I know but I did not want to answer since if someone else knows they have a chance to post. There is a hint in the images as to the location.

Well, there's mostly pubs, it seems and the street is pretty empty Sunday as folk are in Church and doubtless one can't get into the pub that time anyway! So this might be Ireland or Scotland, I guess!

Asher

Sorry, I was away from my computer.

It's Amsterdam. A side street in the old Jewish Quarter at 7 AM. Jet lag had me out and about early that day.

It's someone else's turn.

<Chas>

Yes, that's right. The Harbour Bridge in the background makes it identifiable.

It's in about 1984. The sunken boat is a ferry and part of the wharf beside it has fallen in as well. It's probably all been redeveloped by now, certainly the area the ship is moored by has been. Taken with an Arca-Swiss 5x4 monorail and probably an Linhof Schneider Symmar 150mm (both old, even at the time).

Over to you or someone else....

Murray

I wasn't sure of the bridge, but it did suggest to me Sydney. I was trying to find the wharf building 19 & 20.

Asher

I don't think you'd find anything on that. It's probably wharves 19 and 20, or maybe just the street number.

You can see in front of the old warehouse there's a yellow sign. Because it was taken on 5x4 you can read it and it's a no parking sign for boats.

Murray

Fahim,

I've never seen the wheel in London, but it's near the Tower of London on the Thames. The buildings do look pretty old, could be Tudor, but I'm not sure. Also Ice Cream on the truck is written in English. Still, it's the only place I've heard of like this.

Asher Kelman "Touching the Bronze Plaque"

What a great place for magic and mystery, liturgy, literature and music. Now would you know what to choose to touch? That's critical. Most folk just go by instinct: Wrong!! See below!

Bridge Location!

BTW, it won't do you much good if you rub the dog! It's the fallen priest you must choose. Notice how folk must think the woman is the one to touch. Again wrong! The dog plaque got into this by accident from ignorant tourists, LOL!

Is it perhaps the Charles Bridge, Prague, Czech Republic?

Cheers,

No clue

I thought at first it could be the Pontevecchio in Florence, but then, I do not remember the bronze panels there and my own images say not there.

What's that Bridge?

Nope Kathy,

The Ponte Veccio is not for prayer or martyrs, just shopping!

Asher Kelman Genuine Medieval Town Square.
Restaurants under those canopies to the right.

Here's a hint. This place has some two excellent photography galleries. One on one side opposite a hotel and the other to the right beyond that large clock tower. So if you recognize the City, then on what bridge was the girl not touching the right place and why?
