The School Complex( Bin Youssef Medresa in Marrakesh ) contains some of the most important art and

architecture in Maghreb.

It was a boarding school containing more than 700/900 students...

A student dormitory...

A sample of the art, design and calligraphy around and within the school...

The mosaic tiles are not colored. These are their original colors. A technique learnt from the Romans and

Andulusian craftsmen. I showed you a sample of such work in the Roman ruins thread.

p.s. Ayesha tells me that it is not certain that these mosaics are original ( very many are ) and whether

all of them follow the Roman mosaic designs. The could be colored..we are no experts.

Hi Fahim,

It seems that you may have applied some kind of soft focus filter to the picture of Medresa, right? The interplay of the light and the shadows is quite nice.

Re. the mosaic tiles and the calligraphy, what a fantastic craft they are! I could use some sitting and enjoying the serenity and the rays of sun in one of those chairs.

Spot on Cem.

It was very sunny in places and cold in other cities. Two chairs..we could both sit in the sun and watch the mosaics.

Regards.
