Anna's Hummingbird Nest Photo Project Walkthrough

A couple weeks ago, I spent about a week photographing a couple hummingbird chicks on the nest, growing up.

Here's my blog post about it, with about 40 pictures of the chicks in various developmental stages, exhibiting developing behaviors. (The blog post also includes lots of details about what the pictures show, and how I shot them.)

I hope you enjoy it.

Mike,

I'm so impressed with your series following the nest of a hummingbird as two hatchlings grow, are fed and then stretch their wings and taste everything around them.

You are a very special and dedicated photographer who's respect for wildlife and nature is exemplary.

I commend this series to everyone for the joy of life and impressive photography of these tiny birds.

Super, Mike. It's hard enough to find/photograph a hummingbird nest, let alone one with a chick and active feeding going on! Well done.

Wonderful images Mike.

Coincidentally my son in Seattle has a humming bird nest right outside his bedroom window. Most of his photos were taken through the glass so as not to disturb the family at feeding time, so they're not great. I'll send him your link to show him how it should be done.

Regards,

Stuart

Mike,

We all appreciate your work so much! I'm not sure how many folk know your exquisites flowers or your sea mammals? Part of the problem is perhaps how the forum is organized, treasures get lost!
