Just for Fun No C&C will be given: Arboreal Nude

Springtime can be prime time for access to wild outdoor areas that can otherwise be difficult to reach. Last year's forest floor growth has been beaten down by the winter weather, poisonous plants haven't yet emerged, and biting insects are not yet out in serious numbers.

While wandering in a deep ravine recently the appearance of a very large old tree caught my attention. It shed its bark years ago, I think, and the elements have burnished its surface. The trunk is standing tall with some of its larger branches still intact.

Nude Tree Trunk

There were no beer cans, cigarette butts, or graffiti, so the area was about as pristine as it could possibly be.

Photo made with three vertical frames using a TS-E 90mm, then merged in Photoshop.

Tom,

This is wonderful, there seem to be two of them, side by side. I have been seeing the same things locally. Looks like you are on to something.

Hi Tom

I love this kind of work with nature. I see an intriguing blend of symbolism: sexuality, time, life...

It's hard not to examine all the textures and details up close but stepping back from the monitor a few steps reveals an even more fascinating image.

Regards,

Ruben

Thanks for looking and for your thoughts, Asher and Ruben. Wood has a way of retaining a sense of history in the texture of its grain, regardless of its state; rotting, fresh-sawn, finished, and etc. It speaks of time, as do all things in their own way, I reckon.

Another wood thing, this one a bit more obvious with regards to time.

New and Old

It's just a little fresh spring growth sprouting from an old log.

Three frames taken again with the 90mm TS-E 90mm, horizontal this time.
