My World: Arrival and travel thoughts..

Most of the aircraft were from my region. I did see a BA and a Lufthansa plane.

Counted 9 from my area!!

Unless one has traveled on my regional airlines, one cannot appreciate the difference between traveling by air or by an overcrowded bus ( with service to match..if there is any; and I do include all classes of travel ).

And as I said, most planes on the Tarmac from my region..with passengers transiting from Europe via Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha to reach Male.

From our Emirates Boeing 777-300, we took a slightly smaller plane..

an air taxi, really.

I got talking to the pilot and co-pilot...

Breaking the ice with people..that is my forte.

Smooth flight. Cool crew!!

Wonderful Views from the plane...I should have moved back for this shot..maybe next time.

Wonderful smooth landing..and we waited for the boat to take us to our rooms...

Fahim,

It's all so beautiful. The planes themselves are like wonderful birds!

What kind of holiday making atmosphere is there? Is it like being in Bahamas or Maeseilles? Do they even know or care about different cultural customs?

Thanks for looking in Asher.

The Maldives is comprised of many atolls. Each atoll has one resort. Some resorts are spread over multiple atolls. The atmosphere on each atoll is what the resort provides. Getting from one atoll to another is by boat ( slow/long duration ) or by air taxi ( very expensive ).

There are atolls for the local populace and for agricultural purposes.

The Maldives is a Muslim country and only on the resorts is alcohol permitted.

The language is specific to them and not spoken anywhere else.

Maldives is a place for R&R, a place for the family. It is not a party place like one would associate with a tourist resort say, Greece.

You could take your conservative grandmother here and be assured it would meet her approval.

Place for honeymooners without the ' money/honey ' culture.

Aside from a very few guest houses on atolls where the locals reside, it is generally an expensive place to
holiday. Prices on the tourists atolls are exorbitant. But tourism is a very big part of their economy.

Tourism is mostly from Europe, Japan, China, Singapore and the Middle East. It is not a backpackers destination. Cruise ships call in.

And did I say it has the most beautiful pristine beaches anywhere in the world. One of the places one must see before they die..so to speak.

Regards.

Thanks, Fahim, for all this detail. Now I have a better understanding of the location of our honeymoon gift to my son and his new bride, ten years back! Yes, a great choice for private time in beautiful surroundings. I hope you'll get to post some pictures of the beaches and the food!

One of the best, if not the best, airport in the world. Take it from two very experienced travelers :)

Dubai International. These are some views inside the Emirates Terminal.

It is just not about ease and comfort. It is about services and the personnel that make it run.

Ayesha loves caviar, oysters, salmon. Whether it be Heathrow or Dubai, she makes it a point to visit the
House of Prunier.

They have caviar from around the world..beluga too; if you just want a quick taste.

Take off your shoes; you do not need to go snorkeling to see the corals

Or like me find a place to take a nap.

Visit other places later for another nap.

To me the setting sun was the harbinger of the greatest show I had ever seen...millions of stars, the milky way, Vega, Cygnus, Orion, Andromeda all would be drawn across the sky.

I would just lie down and watch the show begin.
