At the beach with a twist

Finally the weather was good enough to go to the beach, and what happens.....
The moment we're there the sun is gone, hummm did not drive there for nothing so we did the shoot with a little bit of a twist :D

With many thanks to Roosmarijn for traveling to me for this session.

Hi, Frank,

Certainly one of our favorite twists!

Frank,

This is the picture worth seeing. I love it because it's gentle and flows. It has beauty. The form of Roosmarijn body calls us in an unassuming manner. She's relaxing, embedded in the sand, water at her feet looking up at the sky. We are lead to believe she's oblivious to us, musing and in her own world. This setup obfuscates overt challenging sexuality. That seductiveness, on further penetrating look is really obvious! Moreover it's rich with possible scenarios to follow. So this picture has a little more depth, both geometrically and in its sensual concept. The photograph of Roosmarjin has, to my mind, some of the pictorial nature which starts to move us beyond obvious and immediate glamor to something we might want to see again. If what we see is just what we see, it's decorative and entertaining but not necessarily as valuable to us as something to be revisited and addressed anew next time.

Asher

P.S. The bad: The first picture, by contrast, is a totally different style and simply is not seemingly related to the picture I like so much. There, she's brassy, obvious and that's all there is. She's on the rocks. That's it!

The 3rd and 4th pictures are not brassy but given the second picture, I'd not give much attention.

Personally I love this one and the first.
I always try to set totally different moods in my location sets.

This one was all natural light, the first one is a ringflash.
Both have an equal attraction for me.

Hi Frank,

Think of it like this, who would a young man prefer to meet is they were all different and why?

There is, of course, a wide variety of taste. For example images of muscular body building women might not be everyones idea of feminine ideal but for some significant segment of our population, these are dream girls!

Seriously, I think it's a good idea then to sort and segregate types of shot so that we can get one mood for one type of picture and hence the critique is fair to that picture. If the first picture was on its own, then it would not be the same. However, next to the second which is way more gentle, to me at least, the first picture doesn't get a fair showing. So I'd suggest we make several threads to protect the worth of each type of presentation and style.

Anyway, Roosmarijn's body likes natural light! Thanks for sharing!

Asher

Frank,

Thanks for your answer. On technique:

Was there any modifier on the ring flash and which one did you use? How would you describe the light in terms of hardness? The first picture is also polished. The skin glows and is smooth. What would you call the skin post processing and how is it done. You've probably been asked that ad nauseum!

Also was that taken later in the day or have you just overwhelmed God's sunlight?

Asher

It's later on the day (see the sky).
But still it's much overpowering the sun, it was still bright.

No modifier on the ring, just the standard setup.
