Was in Dubai for a couple of days. Thought might share some grab shots of the Atlantis hotel there
which opened to much fanfare . Supposedly the fireworks bill ran into millions!

Me, I am a land person and it made me sea-sick! Very opulent etc. Too man made for my liking, but
others were clicking away with their dslrs. of course the wife had fish for breakfast/lunch/dinner, just to be part of the scene!

Apologize for the iq.

Fahim,

I am impressed by the scale of the work and the budget of the Disney type folk who created it. The shell motif for one main feature would have been nice with perhaps an indoor reflecting pool. However, the many small shells on many massive columns?

The floor is, I'd imagine, made of real stone of different color, or not? In any case, that alone would have been impressive. The design is pleasing, grand and light hearted and the central swirling patterns carry the idea of water better than anything else. They'd not ask my opinion, but I'd sand blast the surface to dull the glare! Then it would be peaceful, pleasant and tranquil, tone but like a large modern oriental carpet.

There's one thing that would be the deal breaker and that's the blue Christmas tree! Forget it! That really is pushing things, whether you want to call it that or a Hannukah bush, it is plain ugly and has to go or I'm not setting foot in the place!

lol Asher.

There is a > 2x lavish indoor swimming pool ( more than one).

The aquarium in the lobby recreates Atlantis, the lost continent. very massive, beautiful.

The numerous pathways, individually themed are worth a visit for their decor alone!

It is startling in its indulgence if a little stark in places. Interesting photos. Thanks

Asher,

I've never heard the phrase Hannukah bush - is that an 'official' item these days?

Mike,

That's the excuse to giving in to cross cultural pressures. Yes there are blue bushes, believe it or not! None of these are accepted in any way as oven 10% kosher, LOL!

Thanks Asher, that of course is how we still have the tree today...

I'll have to give some thought to 10% kosher:) It sounds like the Bishop's egg - good in parts!
