Bald Eagle

I caught this baldy as it was leaving his perch in a tree. Canon 1D2N + EF 400mm f/5.6L, handheld, 1/2500s @ f/5.6, ISO 250. As always C&C is welcome and appreciated.

Steve,

I always love this regal bird. The U.S. does not have a king but it does have a majestic symbol of even greater nobility of raw nature in the American bald eagle.

Could you tell me if the positions of the lead feathers would be very different if the eagle was already in the air for longer, or is this just the first descent before it soars up. I ask since I'd wonder if one might rotate the image 12 degrees or so clockwise.

Thanks guys. Asher, the eagle had just departed its perch in a tree and had yet to start climbing. I've seen other similar images of an eagle's wings spread out. Eric Diller has captured some spectacular eagle BIFs that might help answer your question better than I.

I also have these images of an immature eagle departing the same tree.
