I cannot believe I'm the first to say congratulations on this splendid panorama. This looks like some magic land. I would like to see modernization so that monks can get married too! This sort of group living apart from society seems unfair to the folk. However, no one is going to ask my opinion, LOL! When places like this serve as income centers from tourists like us, then perhaps it's all, twisted away from kindness.

Hi Dorin,

Well done. For those who'd like to know, could you also tell something about the equipment/software used, difficulties encountered, stuff like that. I assume these were taken last year, given the weather in this region the last couple of months.

Thanks for sharing,
Bart

Thank you both for the replies.

Yes, a magic place indeed. The photos were taken in april 2008.

Camera Canon 350D Sigma 8mm 3.5, Nodal Ninja 3 panoramic head. Six shots around RAW bracketed -0+-2 EV.
The software used DPP, PTLens, enfuse, PTGui pro, nona_gui and a selfmade one for retouching.

As for dificulties, every pano is a challenge, this time besides pano in various condition: sunny, cloudy and with people, was need also to show the beauty of the place, much in terms of one experience than one see.
I processed the first one right after shoot but the other three last week, 10 months after, I considered back then I couldn't make them right.

Still a better one is yet to be published, not after another 10 months :) but in couple of days.

cheers,
Dorin

Hi, Dorin,

Hi, a serie of 4 panos (so far) from Barsana Monastery from north of Romania, Maramures county.

Stunning work.

To help our colleagues relate this to some of my recent papers on projections, could you tell us what projection was used here for the final image?

Thanks.

Best regards,

Doug

Thanks Doug, the projection used for these thumbnails inserted here was Mercator 360° x 120°. This projection is selectable among the others from
Projection drop-down list in Panorama Settings Tab of PTGui software.

cheers,

Dorin
