"Bigger than You".

I didn't realize your were one of those luddites James. By definition, digital photography does not exist without digital manipulation. Even when one is using jpg images delivered by the camera......I can't comment on the processing other than digital manipulation kills photography.....
Great photo Rob, very impressive.

Perhaps I should have put the original image up in the first post...

The post-processing was to straighten the verticals, adjust shadows and highlights and knocked up the contrast. Oh and got rid of the foreground railings.
Converted to BW using selected colour filters (can't remember which).
The sky was there, not "finger painted" in Jamesthe colour filters did the most work here.
Like I said in my OP - poor processing, but I think it made a good image afterwards (if that makes sense). Bigger and Bolder...
STILL OPEN FOR C&C PLEASE.
I understand the cropping and straightening but why remove the railing? Keep in mind that this is a photo journalism, street, photography, documentary forum and cropping, straightening, burning and dodging is perfectly acceptable but anything other than this is very questionable and not something a newspaper editor would allow. However one must make their own creative choices and if you like the image that is whats important, but photography is not about tricks or gimmicks especially in this genre.
Oooooo James, I think there are many "newspaper editors" that would allow much worse than a removed railing (or fencepost) and the image would still be published with integrity and it might even win a Pulitzer Prize.
But hey, you stick to what you believe, and I will do the same
LOL
I think you mean a illustration and nobody cares about the editing part because marketing people sell newspapers and magazines for advertising space not editors.
I KNOW what I mean James, clearly you do not.
Kent_State_massacre
Have a read about this famous Pulitzer Prize winning image and the removal of the distracting fencepost. Not exactly a purist photo-journalism image eh?
But who cares?
The "Kent_State_Massacre" image was about the scene of a killing, not the fence post, mine was about the juxtaposition of the walker and the building, not the railing.
Now do you know what I mean James?
Oh of course I do! You then might want to have a look at this read about the case of the missing pole.
