Husain,

I am enjoying learning about these species of birds. Thanks for naming them. At f5.6 you get a beautiful Bokeh with this lens. Which is this, a 70-300mm Nikon lens or what? In any case, I love it! Could you also put in the bird locations and dates so we have this for reference.

I love the appearance of all these pictures and the fact that you can take this at ISO 640- 1600 so routinely and get beautiful clean images is remarkable. Did you do any noise removal? I've said that the D700 is the camera of 2008. I say so since it brings professional level AF and the ability to work at such high ISO settings with aplomb! This lens

Thank you asher a really appreciate your feedback.

The lens is Nikkor 70-300 (Nikon) without the VR (Vibration Reduction).
I mostly use noise reduction with ISO over 1600, i dont have to, but it makes my subject pop out. or if the background is out of focus+ bright colored ..i use it in this case as well.

I have included the date in my pictures, and the location is Terre Haute city, Indiana State USA .

This is a very nice collection, Husain. Tack-sharp, with wonderful colors.

In fact, I'm amazed at how sharp the last 3 are, considering shutter speeds of 1/50 and 1/80 second. Good VR, and either tripod or good hand-holding technique, can help supress camera shake and allow sharp pictures, but it's the subject motion that will often get you (which is not helped at all by VR or tripod). But despite this, these are wonderfully sharp.

Hi Husain

These are lovely, my favourites from these are No's 2 & 3, but they're all excellent, I'm getting more and more into bird photography. I'm really looking forward to going up to Scotland soon, where the birds are much more interesting and easier to see than where I live, thank for sharing these with us.

thank you Don, i agree with about the birds' motion.

the first time i went to shoot birds, whenever i see the birds i jsut shoot like crazy, and when i go home and look at the pics. Most of then are shaky, of out focus, or wrong focus.

since then i changed my technique. the second and thirds time spent more time watching the birds behaviors and movements instead of just taking pictures. I noticed that birds are more active and always in motion, right , left, turning, flying to feed and get back to their spot. so this lowers your chance to get sharp steady images.

Then there is time when the birds are resting and just watching around, thats the time when i take the advantage and get myself steady (sometimes i lean on trees to keep me more steady) and click my shutter. your chance of sharper images would increase at least 35% (i woulds say for little birds like these).

thanks Eric,

i really love the D700 and i think its enough for me. My suggestion for you is to get the D3x if you are in need for the extra pixels. Also, the D700 is a perfect second choice as well :)
