One of my favorite macro shots with my old Fuji camera.

yeah I shot this with my old fuji finepix - i'm looking forward to trying out my new macro lens on this kind of thing. My wife already told me that if I bring home flowers for "her" just so I can take their picture they don't count LOL

I'm not sure what you mean about layers?

With the pictures I was taking of a small chess set I could really see how changing setting affect the FOV etc - and I can see how to resolve the issues with this pic that way - but not sure what you mean about layers?? Unless you mean with photoshop or something?

Matthew,

For focus stacking – if you want to do that – first you take several versions of the photo, in the field, each with the focus slightly adjusted to a different focal point. Then, using layers in Photoshop, or a similar method, you can combine the different versions with different focal points, to get what you want all in focus, and keep what you want out of focus.

Interesting, I've done some work with photoshop but never thought of intentionally taking pictures in that way .... hmm definitely gives me some ideas!

Thanks.
