From my Yellowstone trip this past week. Taken with a Pentax K20D and Sigma 100-300 f/4 EX DG.

Frisky coyote.

Steve that coyote is splendid. It's got to be difficult to photograph in the glaring snow and get details. Do you use a UV or polaroid filter? Yes, Don's right the bison is a distinguished fellow with the ice on his face. That's a great portrait. Shooting guys with soft fur covered with snow is tough as it's hard to get clean lines. How far away were you?

Thanks Don, Asher, and Eric. I was approximately 100 meters from the bison which is about as close as you want to get. The coyote was much closer as I was down to 100mm. After this shot he walked down to the road and right by me! I'm having better luck now with my exposures since I went to center weighted metering and manual settings. I didn't use a polarizing filter but I keep a Skylight 1B filter on my lenses.
