This is a very good idea: the position and size of the crows is just perfect in the frame and the harmony of colors makes them very prominent. However, since the image is basically monochrome, little hue changes are more obvious to detect. In that respect, I find it distracting that, viewing the image, my eye is guided upwards by the crows and ends on a place on the horizon line where the structure is confusing, the mountains being obscured by the surf. I also find that the little dark patch midway between the crows tends to lead my eye away from the frame.

You may want to consider cloning out the mountain and dark patch to see if it improves your vision of the picture. Of course, it is not really a photograph any more if you do that.

The pastel colors work well for me. I was surprised by the white necks of your crows.
