Ha! Well, after seeing a chipmunk eat roses this summer, I am not surprised that a woodpecker would eat an apple! :-D

Fascinating. Could you tell if it was eating the fruit itself, or perhaps the bugs that it might have attracted?

Thanks Don. As far as I could tell it was actually eating the apple. It was certainly hammering away at it. It wasn't the first time I'd noticed it, but on the previous occasions it had gone by the time I'd found my long lens. This time I was ready!
