Enough of the braniac thing!!!!!

Alright ... I'll be the first to say it.

You guys are getting no action except statistics and numberrs because you're being braniacs.

THERE! I've said it. You want people to take part in your action ... talk like real people.

Visual artists are about feeling. You want statistics, go to photo.net.

DAMN PEOPLE!!!

I'm a photographer, a painter and a performance artist. And I'm DAMN talented. Like you've NEVER seen!!!

I have seen, however, nothing that gets my creative juices going here. Nothing but the vision of a bunch of old stuff shirts sitting around smoking pipes talking about times that used to be......

Nothing

I come here, diligently, every day, and I see nothing that even piques my interest.

Stop talking like Websters dictionary and you might actually see some real prose.

Enough!!!!!

Talk about something real visual artists like! For GOD'S sake!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm genuinely interested.
Care to put your website in your profile, so we can all enjoy your talent?
Otherwise how else would we see it?

Nik,

She's a good friend of mine, one of the most beloved people in my life, and I've seen her works. She is DAMN talented. I think I understand certain personal reasons why she would rather not show her stuff here, and I consider those reasons fair.

I know her comments were provocative. Nevertheless, let's leave it to her whether to show her visual arts stuff, without pressuring her. If she doesn't show her stuff, I vouch for her that she speaks the truth about being DAMN talented. She's also worth listening to when she chooses to say something on the subject of visual arts.

And now, I need to get more rest....

Glad to see you're back in the saddle :)

I'm still genuinely interested (double interested since you've vouched, too) to see Gloria's work.

That's been said, this particular section is OPF's only tech-feedback-support section. If we're not supposed to ask or discuss some down-to-earth nerdy questions and issues here, please tell me where else?

Nikolai,

Yes, Gloria is indeed talented. She is here to be inspired, so you need to show more of your beautiful work. Gloria too!

We cover a lot of aspects of photography. She, no doubts is looking for more art, senuousity, sensotic metaphors, delicate tonalities, interesting texture and compelling lines and subjects.

Statistics? Not waht she is into.

Sure we can be nerdy too. Gloria doesn't have to read everything here! Perhaps we just need to post twice concerning actual pictures, technique or practical issues for each contribution we make more verbal/philosophical debate.

Long logical debates take a lot of time. Answering or commenting on a post or picture respectively ususally takes 25 seconds!

For even more "nerdy" stuff, PM me!

I'm just a lowly programmer (DAMN good one, but this is not a programming forum, so I better keep it to myself :). It is *her* (and other talented photogs you got here ) I came to be inspired by...

In the "OPF and Other Site Related Topics"? Don't we have ALL the other, actual photography-related sections?

Neither am I, even though I taught it for 5+ years in the university before totally switching to CS only (Computer Science, not Creative Studio :)
Anybody was mentioning stats here? Gaussian distribution? Stochastic systems? Ito integrals? I must have missed it...

Sure. This is what OPF is all about. And the rule of thumbs is: skip the parts you don't like, Internet is too big to spend your time on the them.
As they say, "Reading is hard" :)

I guess I'd have to, since otherwise I'll be taggeg as a braniac and put to the ignore list forever:)

Man, I miss the smilies :))
They would show with a 100% probablity that I'm relaxed, chilled and otherwise in a great mood :).
Oops, caught me talking about stats now... :)))

Cheers! :))

Can't I what???

Now where in Siberia did you find that stressed out smilie? Seems to be saying, "Don't look at me, I didn't write the code, it was Nikolai! :( "

There are places.. :) In fact, should you enable them, they can be here right at OPF here, too:))

Am I the only one reading Terry Pratchett?

'What sort of personsits down and *writes* a maniacal laugh? And all those exclamation marks, you notice? Five? A sure sign of someone who wears his underpants on his head.'

'Five exclamation marks, the sure sign of an insane mind.'

'Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign of a diseased
mind.'

Geraldine was the name not taken up by the Jack Lemmon character inSome Like It Hot. Gloria is the title of a brilliant gangster movie by John Cassavetes. I am sure I've heard the name in connection with drag in a movie, too [no, Ed Wood was Glenda]. There's always the Norma Desmond connection ...

OK, why does someone read comments she's not interested in, bellowing about it. Discussing art will never ever appeal to those feeling there way through life.

PS: Superman's Kryptonian foe is spelled Brainiac.
No, I didn't take this thread serious, my own message is a dry-humoured extension.

Hey, the women you're encountering here are already liberated, and--speaking only for myself, of course--quite happy running with the big boys. :)

I've been reading Alain Briot's July essay on the website "The Luminous Landscape" this morning. It's consequently much on my mind that vision is the heart of an image, and fully necessary, but not a sufficient condition for its success.

So, back to points made by other posters: since heart, by extension, is necessary but not sufficient, a multiplicity of forums exists at OPF, to address the multiplicity of needs.

And long may they be here, playing fields for practice, instruction, and fun.

BTW, if you want some real pipe-smoking statistical brainiac nerdism that'll make your head spin (and make this joint look like a zen garden club in comparison), check out the 50mm f/1.2 thread on FM. 325 posts and counting, mostly arguing over dissection of the fine points of MTF charts on a lens that hasn't shipped yet.

Nill, ever gotten in the typically non-issue argument about DX (or APS) size sensors vs. full frame? In goes in conjunction with Mpx-counting-idiocy. Now, that's what I call a nerdy discussion ...

So Dierk tell us, which is better in your opinion, APX or FF?
(Just joking of course! LOL)

BTW; For me it won't cut the mustard unless it is a MF sensor with at least 150 Mpx and a built in 4 TB flash drive that runs at 13333x speed. Now there is a nerdy answer! ;-).

Cheers,

Cem

Plus, I am not a braniac and do not smoke a pipe ;-) Instead, I am an artist and focus on my vision. My next essay "Memories of what I have seen" is an important one in this respect.

Mary,

My comment is about Gloria's original posting, not about your post which I appreciate greatly. I jus think Gloria's statements are a little bit too general for my taste. Not everyone here is a Braniac! In fact, there are many artists on this forum .

I believe that we all are artists in one way or another. For example, some programmers create code so beautiful that it can be classified as art in its own right. Even apparently simple things in life such as raising your children responsibly and properly can actually be seen as an arcane form of art, if you get what I mean :).

Regards,

Cem

PS: Following up on Dierk's clue earlier, is a braniac someone who eats lots of bran for breakfast? LOL
