My wife brought a plant home from her office yesterday. It had been sitting in its dreary, fluorescent lit corner for over three years. It was rootbound and looking almost dead. She originally brought it home just to use the pot for a different plant. Her plan was to yank this one out and drop it in the garbage pail. I just couldn't let her do it. I saw too much life left in this little plant to just toss it aside. This flower was about all that was left that actually looked alive but even so, that was more than enough for me. I will be picking out a nice, new, bigger pot for this survivor this afternoon and will then commence with the transplant operation.
I had a quick portrait session with it this morning. I used my Nikon D3 and 105mm f/2.8 VR Macro lens on tripod. The light was the early morning sunlight coming through my dining room window. I really like the way it played on the flower and how it made the shadow and details come out. My lovely wife just came back from the grocery store and she bought me three more bundles of flowers to shoot this weekend. I better get busy.
