There are a lot of neat things about this image. It tells a little story of the habitat and recent weather, I also like the subtlies such as the dark line in the water which runs parallel to the shoreline, I like the reflection of the distant mountains, and those little rocks in the water. The tiny rocks are neat enough, I might have tried a composition focusing on those somehow as well.
The sky and the composition are very interesting. At first I'm thinking, why not point the camera down a bit. This would eliminate the darkness at the top which pulls the eye, and it would move the horizon line a bit out of the center. But ... the FG is beautifully rendered as is.
Removing the darkness would elminate that weight which pulls the eye, yes, but it would also take away some of the character in the sky. At least now it shows somewhat of a cloud pattern, indicates a break to let that strong sun though to throw its shadows, and it lends itself nicely to a sense of distance. Maybe lighten that darkness a bit?
All in all, I think its a fine image. Don't like the other ... the pink makes it look like sunrise, but the shadows say otherwise. Looks a little unnatural that way. Nice job.
