Genevieve

I think now I'm fine to show some portraits I've made, even if the people involved haven't given their consent. The one I'm showing right now is from Gene (or Genevieve) a pool club landlady initially British but who used to live in Albi (South Western France) with her French husband. The photo was taken at her place on a hot summer day.
The problem is that I moved away from Albi, she moved herself somewhere and I cannot remember her maiden or even married name, so I cannot trace her anymore. She was a very close friend of mine, and one of the nicest person on earth.

C&C welcome, If you know her (that's not likely to happen) leave a PM!

Since I can only see one picture here, I'll give a comment...

I like very much the use of limited depth of field here. It gives an intimate look to the picture. That and the tone chosen for the black and white. The whole is somewhat reminiscent of photographs taken at the beginning of last century, on larger format negatives that we are used to today.

And, knowing your computer gifts, I gather that the aesthetics are a choice of yours?

@ Fahim
Yes I hope so...My 6th sense tells me that she's back "home", so I'm even closer now.... Maybe you find it stupid that one cannot recall some close friend family name. Well in my social environment, it's not rare. Everybody calls themselves with the first name even amongst colleagues, sometimes boss and employees, you know the baker's wife called Evelyne, even if you don't know her personally (unless her name's written on the bakery sign of course :) ).

@ Jerome
This photo is old: 1994
so the DoP is my choice but on the camera... (Probably the Olympus OM30+50mm 1.8 if I remember)
The tone is not even PP. It was sharper in film but was scanned in a hurry.
Here's the workspace: you cannot make it simpler.

Thanks to all for the kind words...

BTW: I've got some others, not as "good", I'll post them later.

Here they are:

Another photo of Gene, and her son Josh...

I cleaned the dust + curves or levels... All of these are sharpened when "saved for web and devices".

I hope they'll forgive me, for showing them here...

I think what was done in France (and Germany and probably a few other European countries as well) for suing all photographers who published someone's portrait is a terrible misfortune. Fortunately, it has been changing a bit lately.

Josh portrait is magnificent. Really.

The weapon is a guitar.... Cheeky boy of 3 or 4. Might be at the uni right now, chatting with some fellow students...

For the consent: I just wish I have the chance to see them to ask their consent and honestly would be happy even if they wouldn't want (is that English?).

It's mostly a problem with my own values more than a problem of laws. I'd hate to see myself in that kind of position.

I know that feeling. But the feeling is wrong. If I were to find my picture posted somewhere on the internet in a similar setting, I wouldn't object.

But it took me a long time to realize that.
