High up in the Swiss Alps, I found a forest. Took a walk in it.

Came across a small stream, a few pebbles, a few leaves in it. Kilometers around..nothing. No sound, except the birds, the water from the small stream and me. And the fresh mountain air, smell of rain
drenched forest leaves.

Spent 2-3 hours just watching and listening, sitting next to the stream...

p882058644.jpg

The water was cold. Crystal clear. Brilliant. A universe unto itself.

Want to feel it? Extend your hand. Feel the water gushing. Listen to the world around you. It speaks..if you only listen. If you can feel. Be one with nature..

No sharpening, no pp..slight ' s' curve. the second is a 100% crop. And resizing for the web. It must be
the Alps!!

Fahim,
The peace and tranquility speaks softly within these images.
I envy you, finding such a treasured place.

I went past the stream. The light, which was never bright, took on a magical quality.

Inviting me; forcing me to move along the steep descending bend into it. More like Stargate, I thought.

Too good to miss, I had come looking for adventure..Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter were fiction..this was real. I was real, I stepped forward..

p93610550.jpg

The game had begun. As I found out several hours later..it was a mistake. A very dangerous one.

But so is life. We live it every breadth, so why not a make a beautiful mistake? Do not regret it one moment.

Hi Fahim,

That is magical, and all achieved by the photographer's skill and not by Photoshop.

So what beyond the stargate? A dragon? Maybe a mountain troll? I can't wait to know.

Regards,

Stuart

Stuart, thank you sir. Your visit and comments highly appreciated.

Beyond Stargate..the three virgins!!

Not to be misconstrued they, the virgins, are the Eiger, The Monch and of course JungFrau!!

The story shall unfold as I sort through the files..

Once again, my regards.

So like a movie director who starts, not with a wide angle shot but with a close up, you have started a story in this puzzling but intriguing way.

Now the story has started and we wait for how it unfolds!

As I moved towards the mystical opening, I remembered how we had arrived here.

A 4-5 hours journey from Zurich. 4 train changes, one cable car ride and finally a small train deposited us
at our destination.

Ayesha looked at me with concern, as we saw the small train depart. Had I brought her to the right location?

p548079055.jpg

The weather forecast had predicted partly cloudy skies....

p862637662.jpg

I looked around to orient myself and we headed towards our hotel..

p858021980.jpg

But that was yesterday..this morning Ayesha headed off to Winteregg, with me following shortly behind her...So where was she? More importantly, where was I?

I mentioned Winteregg. Not an edible Alps delicacy but a small town.

There are two equally valid, I think, ways of enjoying the grandeur of the mountains.

Ayesha's way..

p505832694.jpg

My way..

p309112761.jpg

Her way..

My way..

p288964724.jpg

The last two photographs are, by the way, of Jungfrau.

The importance of Winteregg lies in the fact that I can enjoy the Eiger, the Monch, the Jungfrau while
sipping my latte.

Back to our story.

As I left early in the morning, I looked around. The weather was fine..not very sunny but good enough to go for a stroll.

p736638879.jpg

A bit of haze and cloud cover. It was more dreamy than anything else.

As the road turned into the path, there was a magnificent view across to the valley and the mounatins
beyond.

p1028179203.jpg

I looked around for Ayesha, but she must have hurried on down the path. Or so I thought.

The scenery was breathtaking. I passed through tree covered caves and streams. Each having a magical influence one me.

p897674238.jpg

The pure cold flowing water. The sight and sounds put me off my guard, as I became involved with them
and not with the path I was walking.

Then I took a fall. A deceptively small descent..treacherous; and a tiny stream that was as fast as it was cold.

p439646878.jpg

My elbows and knees all bruised. The D700 to one side. The backpack slid down in the stream trying to hold on to the growth on the opposite bank.

First thought...If I could move and the camera worked, then I had to click!!

John, I am humbled by your comments. You shall always be a most welcome companion during travel
or a dear friend always.

My kindest regards to you and yours.

I wanted the descent to end ( more than Asher! ), it was treacherous, hard, part rainy, misty. There were some patches where the sun shone through..

p442022576.jpg

My knees were hurting and seemed could not carry me forward. Ayesha was in Winteregg since a long.

Based on directions received, I forced myself..more limped and rolled myself, forward. The sun was gone.
But I saw it, down below!!. How far I did not know..

p305450987.jpg

Lauterbrennan.. The sight energized me. But the trail depressed me. A continuous descent. I had been on such a downhill path for the last 4 hours. Had taken a fall. The knees were patched. The fog/mist never let up...

p433889880.jpg

About an hour and a half to 2 hours later, I made it to the town. Caught a cable car, tranferred to a small train and arrived in Murren. Ayesha was waiting for me. She helped me limp along to the hotel, also downhill, I might add.

But we could not but admire the grandeur and majesty of the Monch and Jungfrau as the sun began to set..

p324784373.jpg

This last photograph, btw, was taken at the side of my hotel entrance. My balcony was above facing the Eiger and the Monch. The Eiger, three days later, would injure Ayesha during a rock climbing course.

The Eiger is to the left of the Monch ( and not visible in this photo ).

Film time folks...

We have seen where the film ' The Eiger Sanction' was filmed. We have seen the different views of the mountain in this thread. The film, of course, starred Clint Eastwood.

Now let's have a look at Schlithorn.. famous for its restaurant at 3000 mts. More famous however for
the filming of the James Bond's film ' On Her Majesty's Secret Service '. Starring George Lazenby.

p754444527.jpg

Hey, get a dvd of the film and try to identify these two shots!!
