What a picture, what a bird! This seems so much like a hand-sketched drawing by Audubon with careful coloring. How did you post process this photograph? The vignetting, BTW, really gives it the "old-time" look as long has gone the sensibility of shading the periphery to frame what's important*.
What were the circumstance of this capture? Was it pulled out from the darkness?

*I hate lenses being perfect to the periphery unless doing architecture or stitching!

We see lots of eagles this time of year - they are moving in for the winter.
Many bald eagles and many goldens. Lots of imature balds that look like goldens -
But the goldens have this really kool "donald trump" hairdoo!
The eagle was actually dining on a whitetail deer when i shot the image - it was nothing special so I did some processing just to learn -
They get so full when eating deer that they can't fly.... they just run off into the woods...
I really like eagles!

You're so right about the Donal Trump hairdo!
So what did you do? Is this one of those Orton-type filters you used?
Now what deer are they catching. Are these deer that had some accident, fell of a cliff, were too old, died in the cold or someone shot?
