Attended a small intimate venue last night, where friends of mine were performing. The barn environment meant uninteresting backgrounds and uninteresting low light. Perfect for experimenting with my Olympus E-M10 w/45mm f1.8 and Grainy Black and White setting.
I was getting a great washed out effect from the strips of flourescent lighting on the walls behind, and for many of the 100 shots that I took, I accentuated the blowout by dialing in from +1.7 to +2.3 exposure compensation. I shot wide open at f1.8 with ISO settings between 5,000ISO and 8,000ISO. Shutterspeeds were generally around 1/40’th sec - the odd shot as high as 1/100’th. These are straight from camera.
