Hi Jan,

Glad to see that you've enjoyed your holidays. It must have made a difference being under the warm sun for a while, away from the bad winter we are having in Northern Europe.

As a landscape photographer, you know all too well how important it is to be at the right spot at the right moment when the light is fantastic. Unfortunately, this is a luxury we cannot have while on vacation. We do not have the time to do a recon and to go back at a later time (a multitude of times in fact) to wait for the right opportunity. So we make do with what we can, meaning that the light is usually less than ideal. As it seems to be the case with these pictures. I think that they would benefit from a better light. Alas there was nothing you could do about it.

The horizon is a bit off on the boat picture it seems. In the last one, the foreground element (the bush) is, while adding an element of depth to the landscape, not interesting enough. Also, I'd consider cropping it a bit on the LHS. If you want to go to the extreme, you could crop from the LHS and the bottom part to get a panoramic format of the mountain mass, the beach and the clouds. Just an idea :).

Thanks for sharing,

Cheers,

Janet, I too am glad you enjoyed your holidays.

can't put my finger on it Janet; but not your self. maybe different cam, time pressure? I have always
found your photographs of home...brilliant. These seem hurriedly taken.

Just a thought..maybe I am totally of base.

Best regards.

Spot on Cem!

We had a superb time, I love winter, but even I was glad to get away to the sun for a while, we had a very difficult journey home, many roads around here still being blocked with snow!

Yes the light was incredibly harsh, I found my self wishing I could go back later in the day when the sun would have been kinder, but we were there to relax, the pool beckoned enticingly.... and I had promised not to spend much time on photography. I must say that I really enjoyed a complete rest and a break from serious photography, these are not intended as anything more than our holiday 'snaps' I just wanted to share a few with you all.

Thanks for commenting Cem.

Thanks for commenting Fahim, you're right on all counts, they were all grabbed as quickly as possible LOL and with my old 20D, we were visiting my son who lives in Gran Canaria now and we hadn't seen him for almost a year, so my time with him was too precious for serious photography.......
