How perfect! The hole on the tree is made so well as if it was made with a 2" drill bit!
That's a huge amount of work for the parents. I wonder if both the male and the female share in this head-jarring work!

I'm with you Maggie, the third image is priceless. Sort of Tom Robbins' "Still life with woodpecker" meets 'Woody woodpecker'.
