Hello

After passing the bot test i thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Heikki, i come from Finland. You know, the country which is pretty much engulfed in darkness for 5 months, lit up day and night for 2 and the rest is pretty much rain.

I have been photographing for a an odd 5 years now, but only a year ago i found out i could express something with my pictures. I love to shoot people, who are doing what they love. Mainly bands playing on stage, weddings, events and such. I'm only learning about nature photgraphy now, and the composing of a landscape still eludes me.

I work full time, and have only gotten small gig with photography. Enough to get me a 70-200 mm L lens, so i guess it's pretty good. My family includes me, and a poet girlfriend, who constantly messes up custom setting on my camera. She is better with words then with any technology.

Hoping to dig in to this community. My schedule is somewhat busy, so my replies sometimes take a while. Hoping to get some good leads on photograpy here!

That is not a grim as having volcanoes screwing up all the skies in Europe or revolutionaries shelling you every day! not only that, with a wonderful poet girlfriend who cares about the dark? Aren't there stars in the sky or is that rationed too? How about the moon?

As far as custom settings are concerned, assume your camera has been set to the smallest jpg and color space with extra sharpening and color sat. I have gotten caught so many times with tiny pictures after my son needed the camera for something "important", LOL!

Welcome to OPF! Feel free to post to share images. One to four per post, with a related idea so they can get reasonable comment.

Ahh, now Asher. I didn't say it was ALL bad. :)

I was shooting a wedding once, and after a few test shots i realized something was wrong. Images werevery, very strange. Turns out, my girlfriend had tried to create "dreamy images" by adjusting saturation and brightness to the max.

It's incredible what someone, who doesn't know the meaning of aperture, can do with enough time.

Anyway, thanks for the greeting. Glad to be here!
