Had to make a little drive

I had to drive from Washington back to California to get Lars packed up from the dorm at Chico State. A little over 1400 miles in two days.

This is a shot of Mt Shasta 14176 feet.

I think these are your best so far. I've climbed some fourteeners but your Mt Shasta looks like a hard climb. In the story line with your photos you mention someone who I don't think has been introduced here. It would be helpful if you add some identification such as "wife, mother, son" etc to the characters you introduce in your posts. Most of us who post here do not know the friends, family, acquaintances etc. of other posters so it's best not to presume we know who you're talking about without any explanation.

My child. Lars is on here.

No, Jim, the original was best! The layers of levels from foreground to the mountains are so perfect.

Perhaps he meant a different kind of picture or just a “portrait of the mountain” as he seems to do well-defined and planned, often close cropped portraits of people and flowers.

But the view you show works as it is!

Let Will crop to show his ideas!

As Peter has put it so well, “these are your best so far”

Honestly, be proud of this work.

You have framed the subjects well and what’s included “carries freight” and works for you composition!

The subjects are impressive, the compositions are satisfying, calming and interesting , giving an array of colors and textures that work well together.

Removing anything decreases the impact of the picture. That’s a proof that what’s there is needed!

Of course one can always crop a work of art to create a different idea and feeling!

Too much crop.

It needs just a little like this.

Not exactly what I was thinking but best I could do on my iPhone!

That would be a good idea.
Peter,

I would agree 100% if Jim has that idea in his head. In art, it’s important, (in just my opinion), to not interfere with the bubbling up of ideas in someone else’s head. So if Jim wants something, it has authority.

That creates a dilemma when someone not knowledgeable is creating art in the beginning of the art career. “Training them to strictly obey rules of some college of art” might, perhaps, prevent a Van Gogh, Picasso or Salvador Dali to appear.

So I have mixed thoughts!

What do you think about this idea of “advising” the artist?

Are there two side of this?

I love the input. I'm not worry about all the input. I'll probably do my on thing anyway. lol
But I still really love the input...
