Hi,

New to the site and wanted to introduce myself. I live in Miami, Florida and shoot nature, macro and landscapes exclusively. I primarily use Canon equipment (20D body at the moment) and my goal is to get a little better every time I venture out. I am just into the first foothills of the learning curve for macro photography, a bit different from waving a huge telephoto around. I stumbled onto this site while trying to escape from some of the more tumultuous and volatile opinion/review sites. Looking forward to learning what I can from all the experienced members I see listed on the front page.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff

Welcome..... I've recently moved on from the 20D to the 5D and also bought my first Macro lens a couple of months ago.

I was interested in your comment "squirrels are just rats with better PR" ......we were delighted when we moved to our current home surrounded by old oak trees with lots of squirrels, until we had squirrels nesting in our roof cavity! How I agree with your comment now, after they chewed their way through alarm cables!!!!

Thanks for the welcome Jerome and Janet. Janet, as far as squirrels go ... just visit the parks in Washington D.C. If you don't have food for them, the squirrels won't let you leave alive. I don't think this is much of an overstatement, they get mad fast if they find out you won't feed them.

Squirrels

You should see the daily commotion at our house because of a squirrel that walks the tops of the fence around our yard. Same time every morning - 7:30 am. Two noisy dogs in pursuit - from inside the house, since they're house dogs. They are watch dogs (a Cairn Terrier and a Lhasa Apso) and the noise levels because of the squirrel is deafening. I'd let the dogs out, but, the neighborhood would not be happy. Everytime I have the camera at the ready with the right lens to capture it, the squirrel must know, because that is the day he must go torment another neighbor's dog.
