I just wanted to say hi. I am a photographer in the western Maryland area, trying to get my feet back on the ground. I am looking for art friends to talk about work and art... I am starving for a good group of artist to hang with.

Hi Chris

a warm welcome from Europe!

For sure you'll get some friends here, just need to answer or to create new threads!

Let's what you have in your camera pocket ;-) a website maybe? anything that would tease us about your work…

Have a nice day!

Hi Chris,

A friendly "Hi!" from "LaLa Land"! Tell us a little more on what camera you use and the type of work you'd like to do. We share our own images for feedback and people are helpful.

You'll find entry level digital spans from very simple issues to sophisticated processing. We have am excellent search engine to reach the existing threads of so many aspects of photography. Feel free to revive a sleeping discussion where your question seems to fit. Otherwise you can always start a new thread any time.

Good like and enjoy OPF!

Asher

More about me.

I currently use a Pentax K10d, (so I can use all my lenses from my good ol' Pentax k1000 (which I have had since High school) so I am putting my toe into the digital world. I still use Film though. I prefer Slide film, since I learn how to use it. Kodak's e100g is my All time Favorite. Although all the color print I use is Fuji and all the black and white is ilford. My film Camera is a Canon 1n, and like I had said my Pentax K1000. I prefer using straight lenses and more importantly a 50mm. I have a medium format mamiya 6.45, with a couple lenses ( again.. I just use my 80mm for that.) I currently working on getting a site up. Scanning all my work since High school up.

Once I get my site up I will post it. I love computers, I build them for fun. I know how to use photoshop. but I try not too. It makes me uncomfortable with my imagery . I just use it for more of my Illustration stuff.

Flim

A few us here more than remember film - some of us even had a darkroom at one time. And as for my preference, I try to get it right in the camera so that photoshop is secondary to shooting skills, but, digital needs a bit of help now and again.

Looking forward to seeing your work...

Learned behavor

I am all about learning the light and the camera so I don't have to photoshop it at all. I was taught in college how to even compose with the camera. I so miss printing though. I had even filed my neg carrier so that I could print true full frame with the corners of the film (sprocket holes and all.). It all flowed great with my imagery as well. I am looking to repeat the process somehow digitally. (frustrated sigh)

Hi Chris,

It's the making of expressive images and the nurturing atmosphere that hopefully most defines OPF.

There are many photography related topics you might want to add a photograph or comment to. We have a section, Photography As Art which might interest you. Also, you might venture to start your own long term thread on a new topic for yourself in Riskit!. In the latter forum you might embark on a project in an area that is new to you. As you progress, we'll be able to follow on by your side.

We are interested in film as well as digital, color and B&W. Our principal guide is the need and sensitivity of you, the photographer and /artist, or the demands of your client. Our concern is how to best fulfill this. Each has his own journey! Hopefully, on the way to your success you will also support others too by sharing experiences.

Above all have fun and creative accidents!

Asher
