Hi from Stockport UK

By way of introduction, I am a retired Computer Development Engineer having spent most of my working life in the industry, in the days long before PC's, PDA's and the like.

I am an ex-climber and walker, and was a part-time Peak District National Park warden for many years, and was instrumental in getting the Mountain Rescue service established in the Peak District.

I have been taking photographs for over 50 years, starting with a Kodak Duaflex camera in the early 50's; the Petriflex in the late 50's; Pentax S1a; Nikon F3, etc, etc; and now a Canon 20D with the 17-85 IS.

With my background in electronics I am finding a whole new interest in the combination of digital capture and artistic photography - mainly because I dont have to waste film anymore; giving me the chance, hopefully, to regain my 'photographic eye'.

Mike a big welcome. We have a lot of people like you with an eye to look after the wilderness and photography cames as a bonus.

Yes, we too have mostly gone to the digital side and photographers here have $200 digicams to $50,000 setups and everything in between. The one thing in comm on is a love for the capture of a vision or the creation of an image to capture.

I hope you find us friendly and the forum useful.

Your extensive experience is not lost, it has merely been in the cupboard!

Can you scan your pictures? You must have many pictures of landscapes.

Asher
