Hi there! I've only just arrived and I thought that I'be better introduce myself straight away.
My name is Luis De Lacerda. I am Portuguese and living now in Oporto, Portugal after having lived in Weybridge, Surrey, UK . I've been an amateur photographer all my life. However, the walks of life lead me into a very different direction in my professional carreer. In a way I've been what is known as a trouble shooter helping with the (re)organization of some international corporations.

Some 7 years ago I moved to digital and it was love at first sight again. Given my very limited time I finally had the tools to process an image from conception to print. I like to shoot portraits and landscapes. Although I still do not have much time to do things the way they ought to be done I am now devoting some 10% of my time to photography as a paid hobby. These 10% are helping to (barely) pay my studio bills.

I shoot with Nikon cameras and some prime Nikon lenses. I also have a couple of very inexpensive Tokina Zooms which I do not use much but which I find are extremely good value for money. I do all my editing and retouching in PS CS4.

Then we have essentially two sources for pictures. I hope you'll have scenes and folk from the U.K. too. Especially countryside and village life as it still exists!

The Portuguese are better represented in South America than in Europe which seems to be dominated more by the French, Italian, British and German culture. We have one photographer from Portulgal, located in Setubal and that's Antonio Correia. I have been accused of liking some of his work too much. However, we enjoy visiting places I cannot get to easily!

Welcome then to another Portuguese photographer. I do hope we'll get to visit the streets, building and workshops around you.

Oporto, eh? I have some very fond memories! Lazy wine-fueled cruises up the Douro to Regua and crazy late night train rides home. A fellow restaurant owner and dear friend of mine has been kind enough to share his home with me in Rio Maior a number of times. Portugal is a country and a people I am dearly fond of.
I deeply miss the seafood restaurants in Nazare (always in the late fall and winter, when the tourists are gone and the restaurant owners are very happy to see us!).
Please post some images as you have my mind wandering...I'd love to see Oporto through a native's viewfinder.
