Tom Robbins: Intersection of gravel roads in LaSalle County, Illinois.

Sorry, this a wayyyy too much English text for me, but I'm stiil waiting to see Cary Grant alias Roger Thornhill alias George Kaplan to appear on that road…

For once I'll use one of these ugly icons!

No further comments....

your title let us think that you seem to be on the dark side! LoL!

PS Even 'down-under" West is still West. As well as North! or is it South? Don't bother, my friend, run to escape!
LoL

Sometimes a joke is just a joke

Precisely. This is us being juvenile, making silly jokes. It seems that not everybody gets the joke so I'll explain it explicitly here and leave the tread to the others for their serious discussions again.

It is about the Hitchcock movie North by Northwest. There is a famous scene in the movie where Cary Grant (aka Roger Tornhill) is on a deserted country road in between fields of crops, a place much like this one. This is what Nicolas has referred to. He then gets chased by a plane shooting at him. The plane is similar to what Duke has posted in his response as a continuation of the joke. The I wrote: South by Southeast (i.e. exactly the opposite of the title as a silly joke and since I had nothing serious to write, I said no further comments. I hope this is clear now. No further comments.

Cheers,

Sometimes we get tired of all the serious discussions going on around us and we need to relax. Well, that is just what has happened in this thread. A picture by Tom Robbins has reminded Nicolas of the famous Hitchcock movie North by Northwest and the joke has snowballed from there. In order to separate the serious from the humor, Asher and I have decided to move the funny bits to this thread instead.

Cheers,

Cem

Hi Nicolas, No problem whatsoever! I hadn't thought about that movie in years, but idea of the murderous plane flying down the road made me laugh.

On the other hand, a photo posted here that brings to mind Hitchcock's "Rear Window" might be cause for concern.

No Cem
these where not juvenile nor silly but some humourous (or trying to be so) exchanges between some OPFers.

But not only!

I thought -and still think- that humour could be caught (as some other did).
It was related to the picture, it IS another approach to look at it, another way of commenting this picture.

Do we have to be so serious and hear only one kind of professorial approach?

I am truly sorry that these contributions have been moved from their original thread ... Paradoxical views need to stay together to be ... confronted!
