There I was on a beautiful day in Prague. Drinking my Latte. Watching the world go by.

But never forgetting the basic rule of street photography. Follow through. One click gets a shot. Two creates an opportunity for getting to know people.

Just like forum members here on OPF, one can be an onlooker or a participant.

When I travel I want to be a participant, just like I am on OPF.

So I should be at a good location, right time, having latte, prepared, right frame of mind, and with a camera.

More importantly, I have to be genuine. Real interest in things around me. I want to be a participant!!

So no big lenses, hiding behind bushes, photos of inanimate objects.

I am alive. The others are alive. I am curious. So are they.

The interaction must not stop here. The conversation must continue. In full view. Not surreptiously..

Then one is rewarded with the natural human response. Who is he? What is he? Shall we respond if he talks. Should I talk?

I got up. Pointed at the two empty chairs next to me. Offered them a napkin each .

What about you. Photographed your dog lately or some building?

Fahim,

Based on these pictures, you took a gamble as they really haven't offered any opening as yet. In fact they seem rather bothered if anything. Obviously you melted that barrier. So you gesture must have been elegant and your manner and panache swayed them!

When this occurs, we either learn something new, share some food, ideas on places to visit or take some pictures arranged now as you would prefer.

So what happened then, after they joined you?

Asher..nothing happened. The ice had been broken. But there was no zen!

My daughter is much elder than them. I do not like to baby kids anymore.

I prefer slightly more mature ( read elder ) people.

Fahm,

Either there's magic to be shared, or not! I do not care about the age, just change expectations and scope of discourse.
