About the 1950s photographic style, maybe the rather clean post-processing and the tonal range obtained with an orange filter is part of the reason?

I like this style too. One of my favorites; folk flying oblivious to the world.

That is one hell of a roller coaster, surely. It looks like an over-sized Scalextric set. 
What's with the processing on this one? I know you have a lot of clipped highlights in many of your images, but here you have introduced more, no?
