Time is of the essence! "She who hesitates is lost". I can think of a lot of interesting captions for this one!

Hi, John,

Fabulous! I think the caption in your Subject line is perhaps best.

The poster looks beautiful - a great capture and/or great editing.

But for me, I would also like to have the human subject a little lighter and thus more prominent - she's an equal part of the story (at the least).

Thanks so much for continuing to share with us your wonderful work. The insight of your "photographer's eye" is extraordinary, and you follow it up with excellent technique.

Best regards,

Doug

Hi, John,

I see from your bio on your lovely Web site that you have experienced the "baloney slicer" rotary shutter. I never had a Mercury, but I still remember seeing them advertised in the back of National Geographic when I was a young feller.

Best regards,

Doug

Hi Doug,
Thanks for dropping by the web site, and the compliment is certainly much appreciated.
Believe it or not, that old Mercury is still alive and kicking. It's been passed down to my nephew. The darn thing is nearly bullet-proof!
Here's a link to a fairly detailed description of this quirky device if anyone is interested: http://www.robertsuomala.com/2.html

Hi Doug,
I'm so sorry I replied to your last post and neglected to see this post. Thanks so much for the compliments and encouragement. It's what makes this forum such a pleasure to participate in!
As for the image, it was a tough one to edit. The combination of an extremely bright day, the shadows and my position allowed for this to be the best I could do. Also, there was a stiif wind blowing and the darn sign was blowing all over the place! (not to mention the girl wouldn't stand still!) oh well....

Ahhh...luck is everything on the street. I was idly leaning against a lampost pursuing my second passion - devouring some unknown (to me, at least) plate of ethic food kindly provided by a street fair vendor (this time Pakistani). The marriage sign had caught my notice, but I shrugged it off. Then the pregnant lady started strolling past it. Hmmm...might make for an interesting image? I put the plate down and raised the camera.
I love the street!
