The books spoke of a land, in a valley, with rivers and surrounded by mountains.
Those that returned spoke of lush forests leading up to the snow peaks.
But how do we get there, I asked. Just follow the river, they said..
Is there a place to stay, asked Ayesha. There they said, the house left of center. The top left is yours.
We shall be here for a night or two, said Ayesha. Usually passersby stay longer; but as you wish.
What is there to do here, I asked. They looked at each other in surprise. Visit the Guardians, they said. Just you and the Guardians. And the Kingdom all around.
I laughed. They were silent.
But I cannot climb that high, I said. I just want to walk alone, slowly, a never ending walk,
with silence all around. I want to be left alone.
Just wish it, one of them said. That's why passersby stay a lot longer. They can wish for things here.
You must be joking. No harm in wishing; just to humor them, I thought.
I turned around. To find no one.
