Hi Jaime,

Great action shot, congratulations.

If I may suggest, I'd crop it a bit on the right hand side (golden section placement of the eyes). As it is, the bear seems to be running out of the image in a second. With a tighter crop on the right, it looks like it's going to change direction and head for the photographer.

P.S. I like this much better than short track runners for an Auto-focus test ... ;-)

I agree that they both work well for me. It is a very intense scene and looks as though the bear was coming to pay a visit. He definitely has his sights set. Where was this taken? Nevermind. Excuse my laziness. I just looked it up and now have another place on my wishlist to visit.

IMO the original is best; the bears face is nearly round and nearly centered on the image. The background tells as much of the story as the bear does. Because the bear is moving left to right there is a better sense (more territory) of where the bear has been and where the bear is going. The background is highly complimentary to the bear in color and texture.

The crop makes for a tighter portrait of the bear subject but the original features the background as a somewhat equal subject in that the context or subject location provides a backdrop of the story; the ratio of subject to background is closer to 1:1.

A great moment in great light = great image.
