Kestrel in flight....

After leaving the Eagle nest at sunset, I spotted the resident Kestrel next to me.
A little take off at evenings last light

Great BIF capture, Eric. Kestrels hereabout don't tolerate the presence of people at all, and generally take off before you get within 200 feet of them. I'm guessing this bird was perched on top of the pine as you approached, and then took off when you reached its area of tolerance. If so, this photo required some anticipation on your part.

Excellent capture, Eric. These are very skittish birds, and quite hard to get close to (in those rare times when I've even seen one!). You really took advantage of this opportunity!

Great pose, sharpness and light. Perhaps the bright sun on its body could be toned down a bit (looks that way on my monitor, at least), but this is a superb photo!

Beautiful shot as usual Eric. What caught my eye is the elongated catch light in the eye and wondered if there was a little movement?
