Lake Fountain

In the City of Anderson, SC where I live, there is a small park with a Pond named Cater's "Lake"

A fountain was put in the center of it to help aerate the water, this is my rendition of that fountain

This, Harvey, I hope you'll allow me to depart from, "great, I like it!", which does apply.

I consider this dark pictures as a down payment on a long term project. I can see this, like Monet's Haystacks, could be photographed repeatedly in different light and weather to make the place live.

There must be a huge creative potential in this site.

The picture as it is impresses me. I especially like the symmetry since it defies compositon rules and the reflection, since it brings dimension.

There's so much more to be esxplored. This is simple yet I can see making it really assymetrical with a lot of blank space to one side, like a Pano.

I'd investigate what you might be able to do now. This place has to be revisited time and again so it's yours.

Hello Asher,

This small park is about 2 miles from where I live. It has served as my outdoor test lab for new gear, and recently I have been looking at it for more than test type shots. I walk to the park on Sunday mornings with a bag of goodies for the ducks and geese that reside there. There is dark blue egret that hangs around the lake also, but it normally relocates to the opposite side of the lake when I bring out my camera gear.

It looks like I will be driving with all my stuff now, as you mentioned, to make an ongoing project of this place.

This one was taken about 30 minutes prior to the leaf shot I posted in the macro forum, early in the morning.

On a technical note, I used the Voigtlander 125 macro this day, and the files it produces are a bit on the low contrast side, but a wonderful range of tones and detail coupled with the 5D make for some good results in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Thank you for your encouragement, I appreciate it

Harvey
