I have that kit

I have a kit similar with that tent....I shot 300 pairs of eyeglasses with it and it was not easy to get them to lay down to shoot them without a lot of modification. Getting the white balance right for the color was not simple either.

What are the greeting cards made from? Are they being made with photographs? I would think that a macro lens will be important to get them correct. What kind of camera and lenses are you using?

Hi,

Thanks for reply - The cards are made of matt card but obviously there will be glossy aspects on them and maybe metallic i.e silver, gold wording etc.

I will be using a 5D have access t the following macro lenses Sigma AF 105Mm EX F/2.8 DG,Sigma 180mm APO f/3.5, I have also borrowed one of these from a friend http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Mini-Photo-Studio-Easy-Xl/dp/B000LFTD2K so it maybe just lighting that I will need to get sorted but obviously dont want it to cost the earth. I have no idea on lighting required which is why Ive posted here.

thanks

Hi Rob,

What size/shape are these cards? Wouldn't a flatbed scanner be easier for such subjects?

Bart

Hi Bart,

I did think of that but some of the cards have 3d elements (I think its called decopae or something) and worried in case this way would cause any damage. Also I wanted to show that the cards contained an insert containing a poem.

cheers
Rob

Rob,

I don't want to sound surly, but: If you don't have the pictures, don't have the equipment, and don't have the experience, then why are you embarking upon this business enterprise?

Hi Rob,

Mike's comments do seem valid! The question is confrontational but fair.

Let me translate this in a fresh way! What photography do you do now and is this on a website we might visit? Seeing what you do would help us help you focus on the best route for you at this stage. It may very well be that you are already producing fine work and then indeed, it's just a packaging and marketing problem.
