Child on Monumental steps a modern photo in Black and White!
HI John
A very nice image, much more than a pic!
Had like to see it also with colors…
Hi Nicolas,
Of course you would. I'd find it interesting too although color may or may not add anything of increased value. For sure it would still be beautiful.
John,
I do appreciate the black and white as is. Here, without the color, we appreciate the geometric, hard, static physicality of the steps. Their massive width and repeated fixed design is contrasted with the ephemeral delicate, vulnerable, delightful and totally pleasant image of the solitary little girl in a soft dress with her hair hanging loosely, bobbing down, as she plays on the steps. Despite the challenge she takes one step at a time and the immense task does not overwhelm her!
John, you happened have shared a really delightful picture. Steps have iconic links to classical film and photography (see the following post). I like your photograph. There's a great potential here to continue to explore. Your picture is fresh and fun! I hope you have additional shots you might share!
For example, I'd also be intrigued to see
- A crop with her larger so we can appreciate and experience the nature of the fabric of the dress and see the actual hair and meet her. Now she's just a butterfly. A crop would be different and add new sensibilities even if it's neither sharp nor detailed.
- A zoomed out shot with the entire steps and even the height of the columns.
