Christmas and its season have different and overlapping meanings to different people. To some, it is a centerpiece of religious faith. To others, a happy season in which all can express our joy in the wonder of the Universe and of our relationships with it and with one another. And there is no need to dwell on traffic jams, and out-of-stock merchandise.
Whatever your "take" on Christmas, Carla and I want to wish all our colleagues in this forum a very merry Christmas, and we send our fondest hope that the coming new year of the Common Era will bring success and fulfillment on as many fronts as possible.
I'll close with the story about the young boy who was asking his college-age sister about the upcoming visit at Christmastime of a rarely seen aunt, a noted social activist.
"She wrote that we should all be ready to tell her what we wanted as a gift at Christmas. I don't know whether to ask for that really fancy iPod or not."
"Well", said his sister, "If I were you I'd ask for world peace. You'll get the iPod".
Warmest regards in this wondrous season.
