Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Christmas and its season have different and overlapping meanings to different people. To some, it is a centerpiece of religious faith. To others, a happy season in which all can express our joy in the wonder of the Universe and of our relationships with it and with one another. And there is no need to dwell on traffic jams, and out-of-stock merchandise.

Whatever your "take" on Christmas, Carla and I want to wish all our colleagues in this forum a very merry Christmas, and we send our fondest hope that the coming new year of the Common Era will bring success and fulfillment on as many fronts as possible.

I'll close with the story about the young boy who was asking his college-age sister about the upcoming visit at Christmastime of a rarely seen aunt, a noted social activist.

"She wrote that we should all be ready to tell her what we wanted as a gift at Christmas. I don't know whether to ask for that really fancy iPod or not."

"Well", said his sister, "If I were you I'd ask for world peace. You'll get the iPod".

Warmest regards in this wondrous season.

Hi Carla, Doug,

How can one not join in with those kind wishes? I, too, want to wish all of you a very happy holiday season and a happy new year with lots of happines, health, prosperity and peace.
Following in your footsteps, let me finish with an old joke ;-)

A family had twin boys whose only resemblance to each other was their looks. If one felt it was too hot, the other thought it was too cold. If one said the TV was too loud, the other claimed the volume needed to be turned up. Opposite in every way, one was an eternal optimist, the other a doom & gloom pessimist.

Just to see what would happen, with Christmas their parents loaded the pessimist's room with every imaginable toy and game. The optimist's room they loaded with horse manure.

That night the parents passed by the pessimist's room and found him sitting amid his new gifts crying bitterly.

"Why are you crying?" they asked.

"Because my friends will be jealous, I'll have to read all these instructions before I can do anything with this stuff, I'll constantly need batteries, and my toys will eventually get broken." answered the pessimist twin.

Passing the optimist twin's room, the parents found him dancing for joy in the pile of manure. "What are you so happy about?" they asked.

To which his optimist twin replied, "There's got to be a pony in here somewhere!"

Best wishes from us to all of you,

Ayla, Hanny and Cem

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and well

We'll wait a week for New Year wishes.

May you find something you hoped for under the Menorah or tree and if's it's not material goods, may it be peace and good will towards all.
